More Chair Nine Pictures
Chairlift Nine serves almost entirely advanced or expert terrain. There is only one way down that is groomed, the intermediate run Rookie Road. The majority of the terrain Chair 9 serves involves some uphill hiking, although it's fairly short for many of the runs.
In terms of area, Chair 9 probably serves about half of the Loveland ski area - Loveland is a bowl, and Chairlift 9 is the only lift to go all the way to the top of the bowl. The terrain served by Lift 9 is above treeline (with the possible exception of some small, low Krummholz near the top of Our Bowl - and maybe another spot or two I'm forgetting). Chairlift 9 terrain isn't a good choice on a bad light day - the visibility can get tough quickly, with no trees to provide contrast.
The edges of Chairlift 9 served terrain (South - Porcupine Saddle; North - Marmot and 13010) can stay untracked for a long time. Mandatory hiking saves powder!
Chairlift Nine runs that don't require any hiking, such as Primer Bowl or Patrol Bowl will get tracked up fairly quickly on a bluebird.
