Karl Kelman's Vehicles
Little Red was a good little car - and it was little! This 1988 Suburu Justy tipped the scales at around 1700 lbs. Gas mileage from the 1.2L, 3-cylinder, 65HP engine, was good, despite the lack of fuel injection. A front-heavy (65%?) weight-distribution, and my studded snows on extra rims, made the Justy a fairly good snow car. Pushed hard in the snow, the front end felt glued to the road, while the back end drifted around a little bit. If justed ignored the back end slide, and kept the front wheels pointed in the right direction, it wound up where you wanted it to go. It sported 12-inch tires, which on one occasion I was able to buy for something like $10/each. The tire store thought it was a great move to advertise "Tires from $10," or something like that, assuming no one would have wheels in the only size that was $10. I did.
