Velvet Hammer from Tickler:

Velvet Hammer:
Velvet Hammer is 200 vertical feet of steep. From the top of
Chairlift 4, Velvet Hammer looks a little like that big wave from the movie, The Perfect Storm. The good news, unlike the
ill-fated captain of that boat, you don't have to go up the wave, just down it.
Velvet Hammer requires uphill hiking - maybe 300 vertical feet of elevation gain. The views during the hike along
Loveland Basin's North Ridge are great, but the wind along the crest of the Ridge can batter. Don't assume pleasant, warm weather at the
base means pleasant, warm weather at the top of Velvet Hammer.
Velvet Hammer is located just east of
Super Nova, and to the west of
Field of Dreams and
Tickler. As with many runs along
The Ridge at Loveland Basin, boundaries are a little vague.
Do not cut a rope to ski Velvet Hammer - it's a fairly common area for slides. If you understanding
wind-loading, you'll know why. If you don't understand wind-loading, please stay inbounds.
