The popping noise often heard in the distance along the The Cowboy Up Trail is the firing range at the Douglas County Sheriff's department training facility. It's in keeping with the Old West theme that the Highlands Ranch Community Association has maintained for the Backcountry trails - pistols going off sounds like old-time cowboys!
